Talking on the phone at home I saw a coyote out my south window on the half mile line. I hung up on the caller and grabed my 30-40 Krag carbine. Out the door and south down the fenceline I went. When I got within 400yds of the yote my family came home and started yelling and cheering at me. The yote promply made me and started heading south west up a draw. I ran to the top of a small hill and closed the gap to 100yds. She saw me again but didn't act that spooked. She trotted west on the fenceline and hopped up like as to bite at the top of the post twice. Then trotted west two more posts and jumped at that one too. Then she looked at me and I let onr go. Perfect head shot. Turns out to be the nicest coyote I'v ever bagged. I guess the sun even shines on a kerdog a$$ every once and a wile. I also found out that 1/2 mile with a rifle aint far... but back again with a dead yote in toe is a whole lot farther that it was 20yrs ago!
